Great product. I had zero clearance for anything other than tuff blocks. They made this deck possible.
Lynne S.
I saw these advertised and thought how easy they looked to use. Husband wasn’t so sure but he’s now converted!
Fantastic product and have recommended the Tuff Blocks to loads of people.
Vicki B.
I haven't started the build yet, but will give a review with photos once it's completed , hopefully in the next few months
Christopher Liam W.
Fantastic product that made life in a difficult situation easy.

Had a step down to a concrete path next to an existing low( floor level) decked area. Had to dig up concrete path for plumbing and used Tuffblocks to pickup the joists for the new decking.
They made a difficult job much easier. I am very happy with the result.
Cameron
Awesome idea, love that I don’t have to dig holes
Barrie H.
Very easy to install.
Chris S.
Great Product, we have an easement running through our property right where I wanted to build our 6m x 3m shed. The BuildTuff Blocks allowed us to build a low level deck without a concrete slab which means in the future if Tas Water needs to dig up the easment the whole shed and structure can be removed with little issues
Photos to be provided at a later date.
Damien P.
It's a great product no need to dig holes
N I love the finished result
Will D.
Used tuffblocks to build a 6x8 meter deck for a glamping tent and my god it was so much easier than using concrete, would highly recommend this product to anyone building small to medium sized decks that don’t bear very heavy weight
Adrian H.
I haven’t had the chance to build my deck yet but the product looks strong and capable so look forward to showing off the final product.
Michael W.
Its all in the preparation! So when we levelled each area under the tuffblock it made the job much easier. One other thing we had to keep in mind was that the 100mm x 100mm posts we bought were actually 105 x105mm so had to trim them down with a bench saw. It was more cost effective still than buying 90x90mm posts
Michael
Got 2 dozen from their Easter sale for a low deck. Had to trim down our 100x100 oversized posts for them to fit. They worked quite well but sometimes a bit fiddley to get the joist to sit on the cut out. Lots of videos on you tube to watch and easier than digging a hole. Great idea. Would use them again.
Peter M.
We are going to use the tuff blocks in a few weeks time we will let you know when it happens Peter Morris
Jane O.
Excellent product, excellent customer service. Very happy with result
Aaron W.
Delivered fast and without issue. Great service and great product
Andrew K.
Great solution for a low deck along the side of the house. Quick and easy to use, levelling a bit tricky bit easy to shim joists with packers.
Angelo C.
Can’t beat the practicality, functionally and versatility of this product!
James R.
Simple and easy to use
Nathan M.
Absolutely loved using tuff blocks on this project. I wish i had found them earlier. I cannot recommend them enough. Thanks
patrick d.
Such a great & time saving idea, for something so light it’s so strong, perfect.
Peter V.
great and durable product. saved me time with my deck build.
Bob M.
I used over 130 Tuffblocks to build a 60m2 floating deck. They were easy to use and the deck frame is solid and stable. Much better than having to dig holes for concrete footings, and cost about the same as concrete and stirrups. I recommend Tuffblocks as a good DIY option for anyone considering building a deck.
Nancy
Amazing blocks. Sturdy and lightweight. Love that it's made in from 100% recycled plastics and in Australia.
Matthew S.
Great product, very easy to use. Tuff blocks enabled me to build a deck only 150mm off the ground level so I could be level with the existing door way where the use of bearers wasn't possible.
Christopher H.
Building half a metre off the ground was challenging until the joists went on. Happy with the tuff blocks.
Geoff M.
Delivery driver left them outside of my property - could have easily been stolen
Pablo M.
Easy to use, strong,, great results!
Lachlan D.
Fantastic time saving idea instead of time digging holes and concreting posts in! Definitely recommend, especially if used in unison with a few tie down points ie posts concreted in ground.
Jim L.
Fastest delivery I’ve ever experienced. Wonderful sales experience.
Jim
Awesome experience. Totally professional and next day delivery. Amazing.
Laurence D.
Haven’t finished yet. Like the tuffblocks.
Justin C.
Reluctant to use the tuff block at first, no digging, no concreting seemed to good to be true. But for my low level deck (170mm) this was ideal. Very impressed.
Matthew W.
Bought to use over a useless paved area with seepage/ drainage back area off house. So can now use these to act as secured base for new deck
Even using treated sleeper base plates, they'll be raised & dry.
Plus trued to klevel & square!
Will create a perfect deck extension.
Jodi B.
Awesome product, easy to install, most impressed. Very quick service an delivery.
Anthony C.
Easy to use and set up and beats drilling / digging and concreting by a mile. Very stable, in fact even better than expected. Will get some for my next project.
Andy J.
What a fantastic idea! After building a small kitset studio in our garden, and using stumps for that. Then doing the small deck in ToughBlocks I can tell you that I'd choose ToughBlocks EVERY TIME from now on!
So much easier to get the levels right (sloped block), so much easier to work with, so simple a set up (roadbase), and simple to measure and stump (90x90 back to back for the stumps with bearer incut)
For someone like me who has a very very small amount of building knowledge, there worked amazingly, and the result is something I'm very proud of.
If you were a tradie, I'm sure these would save an absolute ton of time. (it seemed quick even for me)
Great, GREAT product. Thank you!
Paul K.
TuffBlocks very easy & stable. Adjusted the top of half the TuffBlocks with a saw to work with Bunnings Goodtimes decking base squares - when screwed together you get 90mm joists. Finished with Millboard decking. Worked like a treat.
Jim P.
The only way I would have built such a low deck. Great product
Andrew W.
Delivery was prompt and looking forward to working with them.
Matt G.
I have completed the job around in total 20 hours. The instructions for using the Tuff Blocks is very clear. Even I was not sure about what should be the joist type and deck board clearance and screws to be used with it, every point was clear as glass in the manual. Tuff block definetly allows quick base establishment compared to conventional concrete block or pouring cement. Price wise I think it became slightly cheaper than pouring cement where I used 28 Tuff Blocks. I have hands on skills but not as a pro tradie level. Only time probably I was tired during drilling and tightening the deck board screws, and some level adjustments.
Overall very happy with my new deck based on Tuff Blocks.
Cheers,
Matt
Mark H.
Great Product easy to work with. will purchase more
Peter K.
Love using Tuffblocks!
Stephen G.
Can't wait to build my deck with Tuffblock
mitch r.
Excellent product. Really made the build easier. It allowed you to set it up and easily move to get the configuration of the deck.
No drilling or bolting in footings I reckon saved me 2-3days
Damion H.
These are a very well designed and made product. I would recommend for anyone with little ability to tradies. Anything that helps us tradies to get the job done easier and quicker is a godsend.
Mike B.
Great product made the job so much easier, would happily remember
Derek R.
Fantastic product. We have built 2 decks now using Tuff blocks. They save time and money. Company is excellent to deal with and deliver promptly. Highly recommend you consider using Tuff blocks if you are building a deck.
brad s.
Tuff Blocks was convenient and allowed for a low profile deck.
Jake B.
Great product. Couldn't be happier with how easy it is to use, particular over uneven surface areas.
Citylightsdt
Worked exactly as they said it would. Real sturdy and very good quality. Used them to build an 8 x 7 foot shed on a cement foundation. Just need to make sure surface is level however you use.
David P
Worked perfect as expected. Placed directly on dirt ground. Used to support a 8X10 wood base that holds a shed of the same size.
AWalkInTheWoods
We had planned to use concrete deck blocks until we discovered these items. They saved us an enormous amount of labor. We were building a tent platform in the woods and this saved us from lugging those heavy concrete blocks. I couldnt be happier!
Clark Sims
Tuff Blocks are very easy to use and every bit as solid as they are described to be. I will be using them again.

Roof top deck in Chicago (Wicker Park) Using tuff block system and Trex decking.

I first used Tuff Blocks using them to build a small (6' square) deck to serve as a step up to an entry door. I had concerns about frost heaving causing movement and distortion but after three New England winters have detected none. The time and labor savings over alternative footing methods was very welcome. Last year my Covid project was to enlarge our outdoor living space, covering an existing patio and raising it with a 10' x 12' deck to match the height of an existing porch. The structure would have been designed differently using traditional footings to minimize digging and leveling concrete piers. Using span tables and TuffBlock's own recommendations I used a pair of blocks to provide ground support to each joist supporting the rim by short cantilevers. Using this method each joist had to be leveled from the fixed height of the porch deck, which is where the built in flexibility of TuffBlock to accommodate a 4x4 post came into play. In retrospect the hardest part of this project was finding the PT lumber I needed. With TuffBlock the structure can be easily modified or even removed in the future without permanent footings to deal with. Large decks would require caution not to exceed TB's load limits, but with appropriate design they can be the solution for decks up to about 16 x 16 and be incorporated in the design of larger, more traditionally supported decks, for example for changing levels.
JA
I am too old and too lazy to be packing around concrete blocks so these things are the perfect replacement. Got 'em holding up a deck and a couple small sheds and they work great.
Peter Mifsud
The Tuff Blocks were the most economical and time saving solution for our new deck, I would recommend them for any decking project
Kevin Fowler
Easy to use, quick to install. Two DIYers built a 10 x 19 deck in less than 7 hours from scratch. Used 4 x 4's to support joists, because ground was not perfectly level. Only way I see you could use the 2 x 4 slots would be if you were installing on a concrete pad or something PERFECTLY level.
Donna Attanasio
I used the BuildTuff supports under a small DIY shed over three years ago. They were much easier to use than sinking supports into cement. It took some work to get them seated firmly and level, but once we did, the rest of the construction went well. Most importantly, three years later, the shed hasn't budged an inch; it's still level and firmly supported. I'd certainly use these again.
Bryan Dailey
Easy to use and work well
DeckDan
Tuffblocks are awesome. I build about 15 decks a year , and these Tuffblocks make is so much easier than anthing I've used in the past.! Don't have to dig for 4x4 posts. Just level the ground and lay them down...super easy.
EricM
I am the ultimate novice. I was so nervous to build my own deck but lot's of time on my hands. I was on the verge of buying the concrete blocks when I found these and watched the video. Could not have been easier. I had a contractor friend come buy and look at the tuffblocks before I did my job and he was blown away and is now using them for a deck he is building. Highly recommend!
Larry
All construction starts with a good foundation, I was going to go with the concrete piers which are heavy and not always cut very well, when I found these Tuff Blocks from Lowe. I bought 21 of the Tuff Blocks and I must say very impressed 4x4 posts, 1 inch lumber or 2 inch works great extremely light and durable. Your next construction project start with Tuff Blocks!!
rogerkk
easy to use. Used these for a footing base set on the ground for a 4x5 platform for our new above ground pool. used 2 against the pool wall and 2 stacked for the side away from the pool. fit a 4x4 good and feels sturdy.
Stanislav Havkin
A+++!!! Very ease to work !!! Like Lego !!! Recommended to everyone !!! Thanks !!! Stan.
Jason Hagan
This product definitely surpassed my expectations. I built a 10' x 10' deck and the time and money saved by using the Tuffblocks kept my project under budget. Shipping was extremely fast with zero issues. The next deck I am involved with I will definitely use Tuffblock again!
Sean Stahlhut
A great product. Made my life easy as a first time deck builder. We have very sandy soil in WA, so way easier than digging and using concrete. Very stable. Excellent cost effectiveness.
tim2
Great product, used as footing for 4 x 4 posts, for a deck about 18" off the ground butting up to a concrete wall. It makes leveling the joists easy. But you can't put support posts right beside the wall because the bottom surface is so wide it pushes the posts several inches away from the wall. Also if you use these to support posts at or near the edges or corners of your deck you are going to see them sticking out several inches beyond the edges of your deck. So I only used them to support posts on the interior of the deck and nail my joists to the posts. For the edges of the deck I had to use other supports because I didn't want black plastic sticking out beneath the edges. There is already a photo on here that shows them sticking out so I won't add another.
Donny C
Love them.lighter, stronger better then the concrete ones.
Bones
These are the best! Toss them down and build. Saved so much labor!
Big O
Ordered them, they took a bit longer to get them than originally calculated but after I talked to someone, I got them quickly. They seem very sturdy and a great option for not digging holes.
James Ostapenko
High quality and easy to use product. Used >100 to build 50 sq/m deck. Deck is 18 months old, has not moved and looks great. BuildTuff team were amazing with their support, particularly discussing QTY and spacing for this huge project. Highly recommend!

These BuildTuff TuffBlocks make building a floating deck EASY! No digging required for your 4x4 posts. We built our deck on a slope and were able to cut our 4x4s to fit easily. Two of the joists along the back were right at ground level and we were able to use the TuffBlocks directly with them, too. Just had to level a small patch of ground for each of the blocks.
Nick A
Super simple to use. Installed my deck structure in an afternoon. Rock solid.
Dave P
I am building a ground-level deck off the back of the house, but not quite ON the ground, and I have a pretty good pitch heading away from the house. I didn't want to hang a ledger board at all, let alone so low to the ground, and I didn't want to dig piers at any point. So I opted for a floating deck. I hated the concrete block idea, then I found these - Eureka!!!. I have them supporting the horizontal 2X6 joists next to the house where I was able to get them low enough to fit under the doorframe, and I used them with a vertical 4X4 at the opposite end at about 10-12" high. You could probably drive a car onto my frame with these! (I supported every other joist as seen in the photo, before filling in the rest of the joists).

Very happy with the TuffBlock system. Customer service was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I asked several dozen questions over Facebook chat before purchasing. Blocks are light, sturdy, and work well as advertised. Would not hesitate to purchase again for my next build.

Worked great in place of concrete blocks that are heavy. No problem in using. Thanks
Sam D
I used these to make a 7 x 12 foot floating deck by my bocce court. They work great! Very stable and with much less digging and hassle than traditional methods. Because of their low profile the deck is very close to the ground, which works out great!
Jack Bibby
Brilliant design! Such a great alternative to deck blocks.
BK
These worked great for my ground level deck! Very easy to use & install, but be prepared because you need more of these than you would with standard footings. Still better than digging those holes and adding concrete!!
Chris D
Great product especially for low height decks. Easier to work with and still stable. No need to dig down into the ground to bury the pier block and for instances like mine where I was decking over a concrete pad height was going to be an issue and this solved it.
Brett
The TuffBlock Foundation System worked well!

We had an old concrete porch removed for restumping and I was working out the cost of a new timber deck. Stumps, timber, labour and other costs made it very expensive to replace, so I started looking for alternatives to stumps plus I want to do the job myself. I discovered TuffBlocks from buildtuff. I completed my deck, made it the same height a the front door and it was so simple to get the levels and they went straight onto a firm gravel substrate. They were so easy and simple to use I brought more to do a deck out the rear of the home. My front porch measured 5.7mts x 2.7mts, my rear deck is 4mts x 6mts and I am sure I will have pleasure doing the rear deck
David Smith
Amateurish builder that I am and not able to concrete, but looks great and makes me look like a professional. Easy to use and looks great.
Kate Meaker
These were so much easier to use than heavy block. I had to work around some immovable rocks and was able to be flexible in placing these to provide plenty of support. Would definitely recommend.
natural.learning
Following my gut, we investigated low profile decks and found the perfect footings we could use (Tuffblocks). The deck is level, has straight lines, it will not move and looks perfect ??. Excuse the dusty footprints ??
jerry
Wish these were around when I first built the deck many years ago. Refortified and shored up the sturdiness with these supports. Better than new now.
WildBill
For a deck on the ground or low deck (one foot or less, this product is ideal. The blocks can sit on the ground or dug-in a little to get the ideal height or level the deck. These blocks are a very good alternative to concrete blocks or poured concrete footers. The blocks support 4X4 vertically and 2X boards horizontally. I am very pleased with the TuffBlocks.
Bemiskendall
Easy and effective. Made a two tiered floating deck 20' X 20' without concrete, anchors, so simple it should be illegal. Solid as a rock also.
David
We were looking to put some flooring down in our basement, but didn't want to pour a foundation. These piers were just the ticket, keeping things off the ground and easily leveled with 4x4 shims.
Safetybay WA
Easy to use and very solid. Just had to get them level then all good.
mike
used these to support my deck, much better than try to lug concrete blocks under the deck
Paul D
Great product! Used these to support deck posts for a low-height project. Set them on some concrete/paver base, tamped them in, framed and leveled up, and attached the deck boards. A framing nailer really sped things up. Went through the winter fine (very little snow, and kept is shoveled off) and we are enjoying the deck now. Would definitely use again.
Dan
works great for supporting my perimeter of mobile home

Continuing the deck modifications theme, this project tied together the steps/porch of a tiny house with the adjacent deck, and added a 3x8 mini-deck on the back side to serve as a step down to the yard. Makes for a safer transition between spaces, especially for the resident tween and twin toddlers. First time using Tuffblocks for deck footings and they were great to work with, much better than concrete footings. More fun geometry, too, since neither existing structure was square to the other, and the old steps had settled and werent level. Client requested I reuse as much of the existing decking, and Ill come back to stain the new construction at a later date.
